Solar Gates UK, a provider of solar-powered safety and security solutions for the construction, highways and infrastructure sectors, has announced a new identity as SG. The transition takes effect immediately, with the company’s updated branding now reflected on its website.

The move reflects the organisation’s growth and diversification over the past quarter of a century. What began as a business focused on solar gates expanded into the development of industry-recognised products such as the SOSEC and INSTABOOM solar barrier systems. Today, the company delivers a much broader range of infrastructure and safety solutions.

While the Solar Gates name played a significant role in the company’s history, leadership felt it no longer represented the full scope of its activities. Operating as SG, the business now provides an extensive portfolio that includes SOSEC solar-powered safety and security barriers, Berlex traffic signal systems, EV charging solutions, Variable Message Signs (VMS), air quality monitoring technology, and a range of additional services through the wider Torquay Group.

Anna Blake, Commercial Director at SG, said:

“Solar Gates built something real – a trusted team, strong relationships, and solutions that perform in some of the toughest environments in the industry. SG is the natural next step. Over 25 years, we grew far beyond what the original name suggested. This isn’t a rebrand. It’s the business finally introducing itself properly.”

The rebrand is intended to better align the company’s identity with its current capabilities and future ambitions, highlighting the breadth of products, services and expertise now available to customers.

Neil Sampson, CEO of Torquay Group, added:

“The challenges facing infrastructure and construction projects are becoming more complex – from safety and sustainability to technology and operational efficiency. SG has evolved to meet those demands. With a broader solutions offering together with Torquay Group companies, stronger partnerships, and a team focused on solving real problems for customers, this marks both where the business is today and where it’s heading next.”

The introduction of the SG brand signals the next stage in the company’s development, reinforcing its commitment to supporting infrastructure and construction projects with innovative, practical and sustainable solutions.
