Crown Plus accelerates growth following £3.9m investment

A £3.9 million equity injection has enabled Midlands-based highways drainage specialist Crown Plus to significantly expand its operations, doubling turnover and creating 20 new jobs while positioning the business for continued growth.

The Telford-headquartered company secured backing from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund II (MEIF II) through Mercia Ventures in April 2025. Since receiving the investment, Crown Plus has strengthened its market position by securing a range of new contracts, increasing its workforce and committing over £2 million to new plant and machinery to support larger-scale projects.

As part of its expansion, the business has also strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Jenny Moten as Managing Director. Moten, who has previously held senior positions with National Highways, Amey, Cadent and Core Highways, joined Crown Plus as Executive Director in September 2025 before being promoted following her contribution to the company’s development.

Speaking about the company’s progress, Moten said:

Crown Plus has established a reputation for delivering environmentally focused drainage maintenance solutions, including the development of proprietary equipment and low-carbon repair techniques. One of its key innovations is a filter drain recycling process that avoids the need for complete stone replacement. Instead, vegetation is removed and existing gravel is cleaned and reused on site, helping to cut landfill waste, minimise traffic disruption and lower project costs.

The company delivers services for National Highways and leading infrastructure contractors. Among its recent achievements is the completion of a major scheme on the M50, where filter drain recycling and trenchless repair methods such as lining and patching were used extensively. It is also currently involved in a significant project on the A46.

Established in 2015 by Paul Conner and Gary Price, Crown Plus has grown its workforce to 72 employees. Looking ahead, the company aims to increase revenue by a further 25% and create an additional 25 jobs by 2030.
