Kier secures £140m extension to South West Water framework

Kier has strengthened its position in the UK water sector after securing a £140 million contract extension with South West Water.

The two-year agreement will see the contractor continue delivering a broad range of essential network services across the utility’s operational area under the Network Services Alliance (NSA) framework.

As the sole contractor appointed to the extension, Kier will remain responsible for repair and maintenance activities, leakage reduction programmes, network reliability projects, metering services and support for new customer connections. The company will also continue working alongside local supply chain partners to deliver the programme.

The extension follows a busy year for Kier, during which it completed more than 25,000 repair and maintenance tasks across South West Water’s network. The contractor also carried out over 32,000 metering activities while supporting the utility's day-to-day operations.

The renewed contract provides continuity as South West Water progresses through AMP8, the latest five-year asset management period for the water industry, which places a strong emphasis on network resilience, customer service and environmental performance.

The award further reinforces Kier’s growing presence within the water infrastructure sector. Alongside its ongoing work with South West Water, the contractor currently holds major AMP8 appointments with several of the UK's largest water companies, including Anglian Water, Severn Trent, Southern Water, Thames Water, United Utilities and Yorkshire Water.
